From 15/07/2020 due to the DELIBERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL N. 79 OF 29/06/2020, “access to buses is prohibited”, with the exception of the following two exceptions and without prejudice to the possibility of accompanying people with disabilities free of charge in accordance with the law:
• € 150.00 (one hundred and fifty) for buses whose passengers book and eat a meal in any of the Restaurants of Varallo;
• € 50.00 (fifty) for buses whose passengers stay overnight at the Sacro Monte;
Payment can be made by cash at the Caffè della Stazione in Varallo (former railway station), at the Vecchio Albergo del Sacro Monte (old hotel of the Sacred Mount) in the hamlet of the Sacred Mount or by wire transfer to the post office current account No. 15911134 specifying as beneficiary the Municipality of Varallo (indicating, as reason for payment, "Bus access to the Sacred Mount").

The Sacred Mount of Varallo is a monumental complex with inner paths connecting the chapels through steps, cobbled as well as gravel and dirt roads, slopes and architectural barriers.
In 2006, a route connecting the entrance square (Piazza Testori) and the basilica was built, crossing the two historic squares.
The disabled can access the two squares of the Sacred Mount and the basilica by following the route shown on the map. In case of need, they can access with a vehicle displaying a blue badge. Access by car to the historical area of the Sacred Mount must always be reported in advance to the security staff of the Nature Reserve. Once off the vehicle, the vehicle must be returned and parked in the parking area.

The Sacred Mount of Varallo is connected by two historic pedestrian trails that in about 20 minutes make it possible to easily reach the monumental complex departing from Varallo:
Pedestrian trail of the Madonna delle Grazie:
is the historical path that starts from the church of the Madonna delle Grazie, a city monument par excellence with the imposing wall frescoed by Gaudenzio Ferrari in 1513.
Pedestrian path of the Madonna del Cuore:
the alternative path, surrounded by green vegetation, takes its name from the church located along the slope and from which it is possible to admire the historical center of Varallo with its characteristic stone slab roofs.
For hiking enthusiasts and nature fans, around the Sacred Mount of Varallo there are several trails that start and easily lead to the peaks above the city of Varallo with panoramic views of the Alps, Monte Rosa, Valsesia and Val Mastallone; including the trail of Father Gallino which is the most characteristic one:
